ACLS Canada A guide to ACLS education in Canada

How ACLS education works in Canada

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support is taught by more than one organization. This site explains who designs a course, who delivers it, and who decides whether the certificate counts for your job.

Course design

International groups review the science. Separate organizations turn that science into a course, an instructor standard, and a completion credential.

How a course is built

Delivery

A classroom, hospital, or training company may host the day. The name on the certificate is the organization that owns the program.

Recognition

A completion card is not a licence to practise. Employers and provincial or territorial regulators decide what they accept.

How recognition works

Canadian ACLS programs

These organizations publish their own ACLS program and completion credential. They are listed alphabetically, not by size or reputation.

  1. Canadian Heart Association
  2. Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada

Many local training sites teach one of these programs. A host’s brochure is not, by itself, a separate national program. The comparison uses each program owner’s public pages, reviewed 26 October 2026.

Confirm the current course outline, prerequisites, and whether your employer or regulator accepts that specific card before you register.
